Interview – Student Recruitment Online Coffee-break!
“This is a post by Luuk Mulling, CEO at Web2Present”
We launched our own webinar-series about a month ago and my Marketing Manager asked me gently to write something about the experience, results etc. so far. So besides to make her happy I’ll try to share some interesting points for you as well :).
First of all the objective was to have a short coffee-break-style webinar, max. 30 minutes, easily accessible, where I share our experience on how Social media and Online Marketing can help Student Recruitment.
It´s been already quite successful with many mainly Admissions Officers and International Directors signing up from all over the world- from Hawaii to Uganda, India, some Europeans and especially the US.
From the brief polling I did we learned that the main challenge is to find quality students, with Budget restrictions being a good second. About 40% of the attendees are using Social media regularly and pretty much nobody uses webinars, however they are still recruiting through mainly Student Fairs, live Events and some agents.
From their feedback I noticed that most Universities are looking to make the shift to Online, however are finding it both hard in terms of resources (it does take up quite some time..) and knowing where to start, especially in order to get quality and not only quantity.
This sounds very familiar to me and we at Web2Present ask ourselves this question everyday, where our Student Recruitment Webinars do seem to tackle this challenge and slowly becoming a very valuable tool.
Now I´d like to ask you, what is your experience with recruiting students through online channels?
Are you facing similar challenges, do you think it can be an effective approach or what do you see as the main show-stopper?

Muchos Gracias for your post.Really thank you! Really Great.
