Most common challenges Marketers face when Recruiting Students

The art of recruiting students has been perfected within the years and as technology, as well as mindset, has changed drastically, marketers and admission directors from Universities and Colleges around the world including myself have been constantly challenged with different aspects of the recruitment process.

As universities find the need to appeal to an ever‐increasing and diverse student base, successful branding and marketing have become gradually important activities for institutions. Universities must now go to greater lengths to differentiate themselves from competitor institutions.

I´m here to identify and expand within the 4 biggest challenges of Student Recruitment.

  1. Increased competition

As demand gets higher so does the number of institutions chasing the same objectives. Higher student mobility has been set to be one of the biggest challenges for Marketers trying to segment a target for their University programmes. There’re too many options out there that will be more appealing than the other. The key to overcome this is by marketing the most popular and on-demand programmes there are in your institution. By doing a market research you will be able to identify which are the most popular programmes you have at hand and give these ones a priority on your list.

  1. Multiple degree paths

Since there´s no single traditional course path, often, institutions must accommodate the needs and preferences of students ranging from recent high school graduates to working adult learners. There’s a huge range of careers, master’s degree, Ph.D.’s, bachelor’s degree and online programmes and since the demand is high, the programmes will grow and expand to different ramifications, including newfound careers in the digital or technological field.

  1. Measuring your ROI on each campaign

Now you must think this might not be a challenge at all but, measuring your ROI can be detrimental when you´re running different campaigns at the same time.  Also, since moving abroad is a complex decision-making process, it will probably very challenging to perfectly see the impact your campaigns are creating and if the people who registered will be able at all to move and apply.

  1. Overburden Staff

Since there’s a lot of students applying for different programmes its only natural that admission offices get crammed with a lot of applications per day, as a result, staff of colleges and universities across the world feel overworked and with little time to review every application properly, they clearly need help to boost the recruitment process and make it more effective, which is when companies like Web2present can become handy as we can help with CRM and admission processes by helping the right students enroll.

There’re always solutions for different problems during the recruitment process and as visionaries we are always crafting the best strategies to help Universities and Colleges with their enormous amount of work, bringing effectiveness to the table and creatively helping them achieve their targets.
